New Entrant Procedures and Enrolments
Starting in 2019 our school will adopt the following cohort entry rule for our children starting school.
We will only have one intake of children at the beginning of each term throughout the year. Children will only start school on the first day of each term according to when their 5th birthday falls. Please have look at the dates in the table below to see what this means for your child’s start date.
We look forward to meeting you and your family in 2019.
ORIENTATION FOR NEW ENTRANTS
Before starting school for the first time it is important that you and your child attend our orientation programme; “Tohora iti” (Little Whale). During this programme you and your child will learn about our school, meet the staff, become familiar with the environment and learn about being “school ready”.
The trial “Tohora iti” programme consists of five consecutive sessions on Wednesday mornings. The children will go with teachers to spend some time in
a classroom. They will be taking part in various activities to encourage a positive transition to school. Parents and Whanau will have the opportunity
to meet other new parents, have a tea or coffee and receive valuable information and tips to make the transition to school as seamless as possible.
You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
You will be able to look through the uniform shop and we will assist you in ordering stationery during the first session.
Whanau Connect days give you and your child the opportunity to spend time together before their first day. The expectation is that you and your child attend this and you will be able to book a 30 minute slot online at a later date.
If your child has been enrolled you will receive a letter from our transition leader with information about dates and times for orientation. If you have
not already enrolled please contact the office for an enrolment pack.
For all other new enrolments please contact the school office to arrange a meeting with the Principal - Tel: 09 424 9029
You will need to collect an enrolment form from the school office prior to your visit.
Please return your completed forms along with:
- Child's original birth certificate and passport
- Proof of in-zone residential address eg: sale and purchase agreement, rates demand, power bill. A current proof of in-zone address
will be required when your child starts school.
Please note: The Ministry of Education requires children to remain in zone once enrolled.
When you contact the school, please ask for Jane or you are welcome to email us at email@example.com
