Dear Parents and Students,
SPOTLIGHT ON INQUIRY This terms Inquiry has the whole school buzzing with
energy and excitement. As a school we are inquiring into the world of Performance Art. Read further information here .
LINC-ED PARENT ACCOUNT NEW FEATURE If you are the Bill Payer at school, we have recently added
a new feature to your Linc-Ed Parent Account. It is a $ sign. This is where you can check your account for
trips, sports events, school activities, donation requests and will show any payments you have made. For any
enquiries please contact Karen or email pa@wgp.school.nz.
THANKS PARENTS/CAREGIVERS Our staff wish to express sincere thanks for reorganising your day
so they could get an early start with their touch base meetings. It was really helpful and meant their day
finished at 6.45pm and not 8.00pm.
We do have one more early finish coming up. This is a Teacher Action Day, where the teachers are
striking for better work conditions and pay.
As much as we know this is a big inconvenience, it is time to take action to ensure work conditions and pay will
support quality people being attracted to the teaching profession, and ultimately teaching your children. This
strike action is on Tuesday 19 June 2018. Children will need to be picked up from their classes at 12.30pm. Thank
you for your anticipated support.
CANTEEN REVIEW We are currently reviewing the canteen and the service it provides
our community. We would love student and parent feedback. There are new regulations around making food onsite
and we need to look at how we can best provide for our community needs. We will send the survey link to you
on Monday. Please give us your thoughts and ideas.
ASSEMBLY AND FIRE DRILL Tomorrow we will gather for a school assembly at 2.30pm in the hall. There will be a couple of items and then we will have a fire drill. It is important we practice this procedure with our students so they are prepared if ever a fire eventuated in such a setting. Some parents may want to talk your children through this so they don’t get a fright. Please encourage them to stay calm and listen to their teacher.
HUGE THANKS
- Teachers, for your commitment and time to organise our touch base meetings with our children and parents. Thanks
parents also for taking time out of your day to share your child’s learning with us.
- Rhys Finn (BOT - Property) and Alex (our caretaker) have been working hard to disassemble our old playground
by M and L block, and then restore the area. This is a huge amount of work which is taking longer than
we expected. Thanks very much gentlemen for your efforts in this area.
Have a great week everyone Kevin
