Dear Parents and Students
TEACHERS STRIKE WEDNESDAY 29 MAY - SCHOOL CLOSED!
The NZEI, which is the teachers union, has advised the Whangaparaoa School Board of Trustees that
teachers from our school will be taking strike action for a full day on Wednesday 29 May 2019.
The Board has considered the availability of teaching staff, and we are unable to provide enough
teaching cover during the strike. The school will therefore need to close for the day.
It is important that parents make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children
on the day of the strike. We know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike,
but please be assured that student safety is our main concern.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTION
As you may be aware our school Board of Trustees elections are coming up. Nominations have been
invited for the election of 6 parent representatives to the Board of Trustees. As a Trustee
you will be able to contribute in a meaningful way to the ongoing growth and development of
our school community. If you are interested, find out more www.trustee-election.co.nz
