Community Notices

Dear Parents and Students,

Yesterday an email about changes to our canteen organisation was sent to all families via linc-ed. Please find here a link to that email

Both EZ lunch and Munchbox will be offering their options for you to choose from. Clicking on the pictures will take you to further information on our website.

The orders for lunch can be made by visiting the home page of our website and clicking on the “Food Orders” tab at the bottom of our list of tabs.

Please note

  • The time deadlines for placing orders with each of the providers.
  • Munchbox deliver their food before the first break = 10.45am. EZ lunches deliver their food at 12.45pm, before the second break.
  • A staff member will be at the hall to receive the food orders, put the orders in a class bin and give them to the class lunch monitors, who deliver the food to the classes.

As you read the information and have questions about how this works, please email and we will answer these questions next week. Thanks.

With changes to the food regulations and health and safety requirements, Alison Williams, our canteen manager has handed in her resignation. This prompted us to look at these different options. We will farewell Alison next Friday, August 10. Alison has served our community for many years and has been extremely committed to offering our parents and children a friendly, cheerful, reliable and varied selection of food options. We will miss her.

The NZEI, which is the teachers union, has advised the Whangaparaoa School Board of Trustees that teachers from our school will be taking strike action for a full day on Wednesday 15 August 2018. This is a nationwide strike. Please respect the teachers legal right to take strike action in support of improving education for children, teacher shortages, workplace conditions and other serious issues facing schools.
The Board has carefully considered the availability of teaching staff, and we are unable to provide enough teaching cover during the strike. The school will therefore need to close for the day.
It is important that parents make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children on the day of the strike. We know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike, but please be assured that student safety is our main concern.

Whangaparaoa School After School Care will operate on the 15 August 2018 for the Teachers Strike Day. Hours: 7.30 am - 5.30 pm. Contact Karen Ph. 021 705804 or email for any inquires, costs or bookings. VERY LIMITED SPACES. NB: Children must be pre-booked and please realise you have to pay for this care. Thank you for your understanding.

If you have any queries relating to this decision please direct them here –

Yours sincerely,
Brad Gibbons
On behalf of the Whangaparaoa School Board of Trustees

Have a great week

Come and talk about the Whangaparoa School Bike Track

We are looking for 10-12 parents/whānau members to take part in a discussion about the school bike track. It will be like a group conversation, and will focus on your perceptions, experience, and perceived benefits for your children. Your feedback will be used to evaluate and improve the Bikes in Schools initiative across New Zealand (this is part of an evaluation run by Mackie Research). All participants will receive a $30 grocery voucher!
Time and place: 2pm-3pm on Wed 22 August Whangaparaoa Primary School
If you are interested, please contact or 022 6018809.

We have 2 children in wheelchairs who are dropped off daily at 9 am by a large taxi van. The only area that is safe for them to be dropped off is in the area in front of the hall where the gate is. We kindly ask that this area be kept free for the van to park so that the driver can safely operate the hoist and lift. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

We will be placing another Summer Dress and Summer Shirt uniform order on Monday 13 August. The summer shirts are $38 and the dresses are $65. These are a pre-paid item. The shirts and dresses will arrive in approximately 5 weeks from when the order is placed ready for Term 4. If you wish to purchase either of these items please fill out an order form and make payment at the school office. No late orders will be accepted. Thanks.

Our annual Primary Schools netball tournament is fast approaching. Scheduled for next Tuesday 7 August. It is shaping up to be another biggie with amazing spot prizes, refreshments plus awesome netball guaranteed!

All players from Year 4-6 teams should have now returned their completed permission slips to the office.

As our only fundraiser for the year, we are asking for assistance from each netball family to provide home-baked goodies to sell via the Canteen as well as feeding the umpires. In addition, we need help to man the canteen on the day. Please contact your coach/manager advising what you can help with. Items can be dropped off to the canteen on the morning of the tournament or taken along by the players themselves. Remember: by running a sausage sizzle and the canteen on the day, the Club raises all important funds for new equipment, trophies and new uniform items.

Thanks must also go to our sponsors who help make the day a success: Sharon Maxwell and Ray White Manly, New World Whangaparaoa, Manly Park Kitchen, Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre, McDonalds, Charlie Coco’s, Hoyts, Ten Pin Bowling, Manly Price Cutter, James Crisp Ltd. Tasti, Snowplanet, G.J. Gardner, Executive Security Group and Sam at Fruitworld Stanmore Bay. Please support those who support us.

Any questions please do not hesitate to make contact with Bianca Fingers crossed we get some great weather for the day!
