CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CHEERLEADING TEAM WINNING GOLD
The girls in the Prodigy (Junior 1) team from our school were Eva Hobson, Skye Pickles, Madison Brydone, Dakota
Hoyle and Eden Munro.
The team won a bid (invitation) to compete at the competition in June last year and have been fundraising since
then. The competition, the Global Dance and Cheer Games, is an invitation only competition held in Hawaii every
2 years.
The girls and their team trained every Sunday for 2 hours. This team was in addition to their 2017 cheerleading
teams, it was a big commitment for them and they worked incredibly hard as they we knew it would be a tough
competition.
The competition is a 2 day competition but we went over early to get in some extra practices.
The team performed really well on day 1 and were in 1st place by a small margin. To improve our score for day
2 we added some extra difficulty to our stunts to make the routine score a little more and ended up 3 points
ahead of the other teams which is a huge amount in cheerleading.
We were so proud of the girls for being able to pick up the changes we made and perform even better on day
2. Prodigy won their division and were only 0.3 away from Grand Champions (highest score overall).

EDUCATION PIECE
With parent meetings over the next 2 weeks, the education piece this week focuses on some of the
reasons we value E-learning.
Rationale behind our E-learning focus
- The computer is a powerful multifunctional tool that can support teaching, learning and the
learner. It is a calculator, encyclopedia, phone, book, stationery item and much more all
in 1
- It is the tool of today and tomorrow and if we are preparing children to live meaningfully
and responsibly in their world we need to play our part in educating students about this
tool
- As a tool it has the power to access information, communicate information and present information
in creative, collaborative and innovative ways
- It has the ability to individualise instruction and personalise learning
- As a tool it enables students, families and teachers to access their learning anytime and anywhere
- It is an important tool in supporting our inquiry based approach to the curriculum
- It is an excellent communication tool that is quick and can be used effectively on many fronts,
in many ways – home/school, student/teacher, student/parents
- Finally, using digital technology, supports our vision of connecting, challenging and empowering
students with their learning

WALKING SCHOOL BUSES
Would you like your child to walk to school safely? We have three walking school buses run by parent volunteers.
We would love to have you join us - it’s a free, fun and healthy way to get to school! Children walk in a group
with an adult supervising. Great for learning road safety and for making friends. You can join at the start
of the route or along the way as we walk to school. Links are provided for an online form to sign up if you
are interested. We are always happy to have more children, and would also love more adult volunteers.
Thanks to our amazing parents who run our walking school buses :)
UNIFORM SHOP The uniform shop is open every 2nd Wednesday from 10.15 - 11.00am and on the New
Entrant Orientation days from 10.15 - 11.00am.
