LOST PROPERTY

Please check for lost property in the hall for any items your child may have misplaced. On Wednesday 19th December
All remaining lost property will be understood as unwanted and will be removed. Items will then be distributed to those in need within our community, on sold by the PFA or disposed of depending on condition.

UNIFORM DONATIONS

If your child no longer needs their uniform, the PFA is always looking for uniform donations for resale to fundraise for our school. It would be greatly appreciated if items could be handed into to the office.

Dear Parents and Students,

THANK YOU
This is our last school newsletter for 2018. It has been a magnificent year, and on behalf of our staff I would like to thank our parent community for the tremendous contribution you have given to enable our school to achieve so many things.

Whether it be class trips, sport trips, camp, donations, learning celebrations, community events, assemblies, productions, performing arts shows, PFA functions and so much more - we sincerely thank you for the help and support you gift us and your children.

We wish you safe and happy holidays with your children, and we look forward to returning with them in February all bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to rock into 2019 !!.

STAFF FAREWELLS
We sadly farewell the following staff members and wish them all the very best in their next endeavours. We thank them wholeheartedly for their valued contribution to our school in so many differing ways -  Diane Broadbelt, Maurice Collins, Paul Toghill, Kate Harland, Jessica Woodcock,  Bronwyn Dale.

We also wish our “mums to be” - Nairi Steidinger, Kendall Maxwell - Brown and Lucy Osborne all the very best as they start their families.
Lastly we hope Susannah Franks has a productive year, taking leave to work on her new home.

STUDENT FAREWELLS
We would like to farewell our Year 6 families, especially those who have been with us since year 1 and have no more siblings attending our school. Thanks for your loyalty and support over the years.

We hope our year 6 students will flourish as they move on to intermediate. We hope they look back at their times at Whangaparaoa School with a sense of achievement, pride and happiness. They are always welcome back to “their primary school”.

Finally, to our students and families who are moving out of the area, we wish you all the best as you settle into your new environments. We know you will miss the marvellous “coast” and we will miss you too !

TO OUR STAFF

I have often said you have the best job in the world when you are around our young children every day. I believe this, and I also believe it is one of the toughest jobs.

Thank you very much for the commitment you offer this school and our children in the hope of making a significant difference to their world. The vast array of needs and demands you plan for every day is massive. It often gets taken for granted and I just wanted to say how much it is appreciated. As a school community we are lucky to have a full staff next year. I hope all our children and all our parents thank our teachers and are grateful for your efforts. The future of teaching and teachers in our community relies on such gratefulness.

TO OUR CHILDREN
You are the special people who we work so hard for. We see the sparkle in your eyes and your many talents - you give us the greatest motivation to come to work every day. Thank you for the cheerful hellos, the laughs, the challenges and the opportunity to work with you each day as you grow. Have happy holidays, with lots of fun and family time. We look forward to seeing you early February. Take care. Kevin

SENSORY GARDEN
So it begins! Lovely to see ex-pupils helping out to get the Sensory Garden underway. Undercoat has been painted onto the poles. Some students are hard at work behind the scenes designing patterns for the poles. Alex managed to rope in a few volunteers to help tidy the area in preparation for the next stage. A huge thank you to all the friendly hardworking helpers.
Watch this space!

THE ART LAB - PASSION FRIDAYS

It's official, Gala 2019 is a go!

To all those in our school community who have put up their hands so far, thanks so much for your support. We now have enough helpers to ensure we can run a successful event.

We still have a handful of our favourite stalls we'd love to run that need some keen leaders:

  • Balloon Pop
  • Chocolate Throw
  • Bean Bag Toss
  • Jolly Jars
  • 2nd Hand Toys

If you'd like to lead these or any other stall you're passionate about, click here to volunteer
