Dear Parents and Students,
Our wonderful PFA have done it again with a magnificent Halloween disco last Friday night. Thanks to everyone who supported the night, the buzz was awesome and there were some absolutely wicked costumes and face makeovers. To our PFA and parent helpers who gave up many hours before the night to organise this event and were also there at 10pm on Friday night cleaning up, you are legends. Our school community and spirit is much richer through all your efforts. Thanks again.
Chromebook deals. (plus more!!)
If you are looking at a device for next year, we have our annual super bargain deal. This year Noel Leeming have
come on board to give us the deal of $300 for a new chromebook. This is a fantastic price and includes GST. It
is available through the Silverdale Noel Leeming store which means we can lift some of the load from our very busy
and efficient office staff. See the attached flyer for details about the chromebook, friends and family week and the opportunity to cash in on other Noel Leeming specials.
Class placement.
Every year schools take on the complex challenge of placing children into classes for the next year.
When doing this, staff take into consideration many factors such as learning needs, strengths, friendships and
personalities to create balanced classes. If you have any relevant information that you feel would assist us in
placing your child, please email the information to pa@wgp.school.nz for
consideration, before 22 November 2017.
The nature of this task means there are many tough decisions to be made. As a staff, we will always come back to
what we think is best for the child - taking into account what we know about their needs, the needs of other children,
the teachers and the school direction. As a parent you will have your own thoughts for your child and what is best
for them. We are quite happy to listen to your thoughts about your child, but we have many children to think about.
We can not always accommodate parent requests. Our teachers know our children well, and we know our teachers well.
We ask that you respect the process, the collective thinking and opportunity, as well as the decision made.
Important dates and news.
Here is the link for the
important dates and events to end this year, as well as start of next year. The exciting news is that our new teachers
for 2018 will be coming to our community meeting on November 15. On the personnel front we congratulate Kirsten
Bell who has won a position at Northcross Intermediate next year.
Looking forward to a great term together. Kevin
