Dear Parents and Students

We are already into week 4 and teachers are sharing how much they are enjoying their classes. EVERYONE tells me that they have the best class ! One of our key goals this year is that every child feels safe and happy at our school. If we succeed with this, we know there is a great opportunity for learning to happen. We ask parents to let the teachers know if there are any concerns early, so we can nip any potential worries in the bud.

Todays newsletter is jam packed with information.

The Board of Trustees would like to bring your attention to the following advertisement.

BUILD  DIGITAL TRUST

A superb article on using devices for an excellent purpose and how parents can work with their child to build digital trust and competency together. View article here.

HIGH 5 THANK YOU

  • Warren Steel and his bike maintenance team who work tirelessly to make sure our bike container and bikes are in tip top condition for children to use.
  • Netball committee, who are already giving their time to plan for another successful season.
  • Teacher aides, who work with our students and teachers to enable and maximise learning.
  • To our PFA who always work really hard, over and above their busy lives, to raise funds that help our school environment be a better place for children.
  • Logan Geeves and staff who are always helping to pack lots of PE options and activity into every school day.

TRIATHLON

We would like to inform you that this year we are going to do our very own school triathlon. We will be encouraging every child to participate and give it a go. Details of the event are as follows:

WHY : Fitness, fun and challenge.

WHEN : Tuesday, March 20. Back-up day is Wednesday, March 28.

WHAT : Run, bike and swim. If children do not have a bike, they may be able to borrow a friends of another age group. We also have a limited number of school bikes available. If a child is not a competent swimmer they can use a flutterboard and people will be there to help them.

WHAT TO BRING AND WEAR : All children who are participating in the triathlon can wear sport mufti to school this day. They will also need togs, towel and athletic shoes. Students MUST WEAR SHOES WHILE RUNNING AND CYCLING. They are allowed to wear togs in the running and cycling sections - girls must wear full swimsuits (no bikinis) and boys must wear a t shirt with their togs. While cycling all students must wear helmets.

WHO : All students. There will be a triathlon for each year group, as well as a boys and girls event at each year level. Students will be encouraged to support and help each other so all children finish safely and feel good about competing in the event. At the finish line the children will get a few jellybeans and a piece of fruit for their efforts. If you do not want us to do this for your child, let the class teacher know.

WHERE : In school and on footpaths around our school. No child will need to cross a road. Maps for each year group are attached. View maps here.

Every child who gives the triathlon a go will earn a point for their superteam. A superteam is two neighbouring learning communities.

The year 5 and 6 events will run from 9.30am to 11. The year 3 and 4 events will run from 11.30am to 1pm. The year 1 and 2 events will run from 1.45pm to 3pm.

Parents are welcome to come and support the children, but must stay off the course due to safety reasons.

We are looking forward to the event and supporting our students through this challenge.
