Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to week 7.
LEARNING ASSISTANT POSITIONS - 2019 We have been very impressed with our learning assistants this year. Their commitment to help our students and teachers has been outstanding, and with this in mind, we have asked if they can be available in 2019. Most are available and keen. We do have a couple of vacancies at the year 5/ 6 level of the school. If you would be keen to be a learning assistant in 2019, working four days a week for 3 hours each day, helping our teachers and children learn, please send a cover letter and CV to kcronin@wgp.school.nz. Applications close on Wednesday, December 5. PLEASE NOTE WE ARE ADVERTISING EARLY to allow our LA’s to start their role when the year starts for the students.
SABBATICAL I have been lucky to be granted for the first time a Principals sabbatical. This is where the ministry gives a Principal 10 weeks paid leave. The aim of the sabbatical is to give people time to step outside the day to day busy-ness of their job, to reflect on where things are at in their school, to look at new learning and opportunities across New Zealand and abroad and to have some personal time. I will be taking my leave in term 1, 2019.
Warren Steel, Gordie Palmer and Jo Kember will assume the leadership of the school in my absence.
UNIFORM ONLINE For 2019 most uniform items need to be ordered
online. The details of how to do this are being sent home tomorrow in hard copy. Please find details attached here.
SUNHATS The one item we are still going to sell at our school office will be the
school sunhat. We have received emails from parents concerned at the current price of the sunhat,
and asking if they can buy an alternative hat. The Board of Trustees have discussed this and the
answer is no, as they are worried about the different hats that may be introduced, the quality
of the hat and our branding. What we have been able to do is negotiate a lower price for the sunhat
with suppliers. In 2019, our sunhats will sell through the office at $10.
Having 760 sunhats can be a huge mystery if they are not named. Please ensure your child’s hat is named
on the inside. XMAS ON THE GREEN
We invite our students, staff and families to come together on Monday, December 10 to have a family
picnic on our field. Some Xmas music will be playing, so get in the festive spirit and pack a picnic,
or buy some takeaways and join us between 5.45pm and 7pm.
STATIONERY The stationery requirements for 2019 for your child are available to
look at online from December 1st. View the flyer for online ordering here.
Year 5/ 6 exception. Parents of 2019 Year 5 & 6 students - Please note: there
are 2 different stationery lists for Year 5/6. You will need to wait until December 10 when classes
are announced to know which stationery list applies to your child.
