Community Notices

Dear Parents and Students,

LINC-ED AND REPORTING TO PARENTS

On Tuesday 10 April we are going to host 2 community meetings to share with you how we will be reporting to parents this year. Reporting will no longer be 2 written reports in July and December. We are moving to a more timely manner of reporting. Linc-ed will be the tool that we use to share students learning achievement and next steps. If you would like to know more about this and how it will look for your child, please come and join us at 9am in the morning or 7pm in the evening.

WHANGAPARAOA SCHOOL'S BOOK WEEK

Book Week April 9th – 13th

Theme: All Things Kiwi

During the last week of this term we will be hosting a Book Week throughout the whole school. The purpose of holding this event is:

To compliment work in the classroom

To promote books and libraries

To enhance the enjoyment of reading

To inquire into how New Zealand is represented through books and authors

To give students the opportunity to meet and talk to ‘real life’ authors

During this week the children will be visited by two amazing Kiwi authors: Chris Gurney and Maria Gill. Read more about Book Week.

Many thanks for all your support.

BOT NEWS

The Board of Trustees would like to welcome Helen Brown and Melissa Dawson to the group. They are new parent reps who will hold positions on the Board until election time next year. We look forward to their input.

HIGH 5 THANK YOU

  • Logan Geeves who successfully organised our school swimming champs and the Hibiscus Coast interschool swimming sports. Well done.
  • Hamish Ross and Gemma Pratomo who helped organise our first inaugural triathlon.
  • Our senior students who were such great buddies to our junior students in the triathlon.

ACHIEVERS OF THE WEEK

  • Our students who took part in the weetbix triathlon on Sunday.
  • Our Green Team, Stanley and Samaira who hosted our first school assembly last week.
  • Zoe Pedersen who placed second in the Interschool Swimming Sports.

Please note, school is closed on April 3 for Easter Tuesday. This is customary for schools.

On behalf of our staff, have a Happy Easter everyone.

Take care, have fun and don’t eat too much chocolate !

See you back again next Wednesday.

Kevin

SAFETY AT THE SCHOOL DROP ZONE
Please remember the school drop off/pick up zone is for this purpose only. We have had reports of parents parking and leaving their vehicles in this zone. This causes unnecessary congestion in our already busy car park. It is important to ensure the safety of our children.

PFA AGM
Our PFA AGM is on Thursday 12 April at 7.30pm in the staffroom.

WORKING BEE FOR THE CANTEEN
Our very busy, well used canteen is getting ready for our next Council approval visit and is very overdue for some paint, a little electrical work and some general maintenance. We will also need a stainless steel bench with sink top.
Alison is hoping that she can rally up some volunteers to help with this. If you can help please contact Alison Ph 021 02394224 Many thanks.
