Dear Parents and Students,
Presentation
Thanks to everyone who attended our community meeting last night. The slide presentation can be accessed here
Before 8.30am means “Before School Care”
School opens for students at 8.30am. This is the time for students to start coming to school. They should be at
school by 8.50am, ready to start learning.
8.30am is also when we ask our teachers to make their way to their rooms, to meet their students. Before 8.30 is
a time when we want our teachers preparing for the day. Although we love seeing our children and families at
school, we cannot ensure and be responsible for their safety before 8.30am. If you need to drop your children
to school before 8.30, please enrol in the before school programme where there are adults assigned to look
after them and keep them safe. Thanks.
Chromebook deals (plus more!!) If you are looking at a device for next year, we have our
annual super bargain deal. This year Noel Leeming have come on board to give us the deal of $300 for a new chromebook.
This is a fantastic price and includes GST. It is available through the Silverdale Noel Leeming store which means
we can lift some of the load from our very busy and efficient office staff.
See the attached flyer for details about the chromebook, friends and family week and the opportunity to cash in on other Noel Leeming specials.
Class placement
Every year schools take on the complex challenge of placing children into classes for the next year.
When doing this, staff take into consideration many factors such as learning needs, strengths, friendships and
personalities to create balanced classes. If you have any relevant information that you feel would assist us in
placing your child, please email the information to pa@wgp.school.nz for
consideration, before 22 November 2017.
The nature of this task means there are many tough decisions to be made. As a staff, we will always come back to
what we think is best for the child - taking into account what we know about their needs, the needs of other children,
the teachers and the school direction. As a parent you will have your own thoughts for your child and what is best
for them. We are quite happy to listen to your thoughts about your child, but we have many children to think about.
We can not always accommodate parent requests. Our teachers know our children well, and we know our teachers well.
We ask that you respect the process, the collective thinking and opportunity, as well as the decision made.
